Hike 11: Stevens Meadow / Cooks Butte (Lake Oswego, OR)
This hike is just a 10 minute drive from my house! It’s a lovely little meadow and forested butte. Doing both added up to about 3 miles.
The area surrounding where I live was heavily logged about a century ago. It makes me sad to imagine all the giant trees that used to be here. The forests feel like they are still in recovery when I walk through them. But it is amazing to see the resilience of plant life, and it’s always a gift to breathe in their abundant oxygen. Oh, and the little purple wild flowers all along the trail? Asters. I love them.
