Songs inspired by the beautiful state of Oregon, with artwork for each track provided by central Oregon artist Lindsay Gilmore. All tracks performed on a Yahama YUS5 piano with the felt engaged.

Naomi LaViolette (2012 Album)

In this sometimes jazzy, at times cinematic, acoustic but occasionally electronic collection of songs, Naomi introduces herself as a songwriter. Her eclectic influences weave themselves throughout heart-driven songs inspired by love, family, heartbreak, nature and spirituality. Naomi’s voice and her touch at a grand piano on every track provide unifying presence. Following the release of her first record at Jimmy Mak’s jazz club in Portland, Oregon, Naomi continues to stretch her wings in jazz-inspired grooves with the You’ve Got Me EP. She includes the funky sounds of the Wurlitzer, Hammond B3 organ and Rhodes piano with classic grand piano, brass instruments and imaginative electric guitar tracks. Simply put, this EP is full of groove, and charmingly retro. A brown-eyed girl playing blue-eyed soul.

In Written for You, Naomi veers in a slightly different direction than her previous albums. Her vocals are as smooth and rich as ever, and sonically the album is as steeped in classical music and jazz as it is in folk and pop, but the wrinkle here is in the nature of the content, and that wrinkle is the gift. Instead of mining the depths of her life experiences, the content comes from songs she was commissioned to write for others, and songs she gave as gifts to loved ones. The album touches on subjects ranging from the power of love and dreams to the beauty of creation, but while there is a theme of seeking and finding the beauty in the present, some of the album’s strongest moments occur on tracks which contemplate mortality and the eternal. Whether it’s a song written as a celebration of life for a dearly departed relative, or an attempt to offer God genuinely unique praise, as on the album’s title track, the gift in it all is found in LaViolette’s ability to offer something moving, something profound to someone else. Live at The Old Church with Members of the Oregon Symphony (2019 album)

Following her work with the Oregon Symphony Lullaby Project in spring 2018, Naomi was inspired to create a live record in concert with her friends from the symphony. She includes her four new singles released in 2018 and selections from her 3 studio records in this recording, newly arranged for a classical chamber ensemble. The unique instrumentation adds an Old-World sound to modern songwriting.
