Happy December! I hope you're finding peace in the quiet moments of this busy season. In Oregon, the shorter days have beautifully sunny and chilly, and cozy nights with hot tea are in full swing. May this holiday season bring moments of joy, quiet, and comfort. To share a little of that spirit, here is the Oregon Repertory Singers’ stunning recording of my piece Night of Silence, a meditation on memory, loss, and rediscovered hope.

“Thorns” by Lucia LaViolette (my daughter!) - released Nov. 21, 2025
What an absolute joy to help my daughter Luci produce her debut album of original songs. So much thanks to recording engineer/instrumentalist Tim Karplus, drummer Ji Tanzer, and mixing/mastering engineer Jeanot Lewis-Rolland for helping us bring it to life!

Recent Adventures…
What a joy it was to share a performance last month with pianists Darrell Grant and Colin Alexsei Shephard. The concert honored the late Paul Sperry and the dedication of his beautiful Steinway piano to the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church in Portland.
Upcoming Shows
The Cider Janes
January 3 (Skamania, WA) & 15 (Portland, OR), 2026
My just-for-fun harmony-singing trio has a couple shows coming up in January, and we’d love to see you there! Visit theciderjanes.com for info.
Commission Consortium Opportunity
Coming in 2026: I’m launching a Commission Consortium to complete a large-scale SATB choral work celebrating all of the Solstices and Equinoxes!
If you're interested in learning more or joining the consortium with your choir, I'd love to hear from you.
In the meantime, take a listen to “Winter Solstice” for a sonic preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQcxbpoilaY
Just FYI, a commission consortium is a group of multiple choirs who pool financial resources to fund the creation of a new work. This model makes it more affordable for everyone involved to commission a new work than if they were to do so alone. In return for their financial contribution, consortium members receive rights to be among the first to perform the new work and have their names listed in the score.
As we head into the final weeks of 2025, I want to express my deep gratitude for your support this year. Whether you’ve listened to my music, attended a show, or just reached out with a kind word, I am so thankful for you.
Wishing you all the best,
Naomi (Nay)
