Warmer days are finding us and I am loving each lengthening day. I hope you are well and finding ways to feed your spirit. I'm getting out for more walks with Joy (my little doodle dog), the summer garden is starting to take off, and the heat of the sun feels so good. Some fun things to share with you...
Just released last month, my newest Lucente Skye song is called “Three Sisters”. Available now on all the streaming platforms! I hope you’ve been enjoying it.
Coming out this month on June 13, “Ecola State Park.” It’s the 9th song from the Oregon Landscapes album by Lucente Skye, with gorgeous artwork by Oregonian painter Lindsay Gilmore. It's serene and meditative, with a gentle melody floating over pulsing left hand chord changes. You may recognize it… I used the melody and changes from my song “Written For You,” as that song was also inspired by this landscape. Check out this Patreon post to listen now, download the track, and learn more about the story behind the composition.

NEW CHORAL SCORE video
I’m thrilled to share a brand new SATB/piano choral score video of “Sunrise,” and this video features the recording of the official premiere performance by the Oregon Repertory Singers last month. “Sunrise” is a song I wrote for my mom, and it’s about the joy of connection found in appreciating natural beauty with someone you love. Interested in commissioning a new piece or new arrangement? I'd love to hear from you... let's collaborate!
Recent Highlights
What a gift to be included last month in a lovely project by photographer K.B. Dixon of Oregon Arts Watch. His series of cultural profiles with portraits is called The Cultural Landscape, and it features a variety of artists from all over Oregon. I’m amazed by the scope of artists he has included, and so I’m grateful he has also given me a set of photos to use digitally in my professional work. Thank you K.B. Dixon! Here’s one of the portraits:
What a treat to meet composer Ēriks Ešenvalds from Lativa last month in our concerts with the Oregon Repertory Singers! His music is absolutely gorgeous, and he is so kind and warm-hearted. It’s because of Ēriks that there is now an optional repeat at the end of my new score, “Sunrise.” He heard it in rehearsal and immediately had to share with me that the ending section was so beautiful, it needed to be repeated. Also, a HUGE thank you to ORS for commissioning an arrangement of “Sunrise” for the choir!
Last month we celebrated another season of the Lullaby Project with the Oregon Symphony, and I was so blessed by the community of parents, volunteers and musicians in our concert of lullabies. Here are some photos of the event at the Alberta Rose Theatre, beautifully taken by photographer Jason Quigley.
I hope you are getting outside and taking good care of your spirit. I know it sounds simple, but music always lifts me up, so I'll just keep doing that no matter what. As always, I love hearing from you, so send me a note if you feel moved to do so. Thank you for walking alongside me on my musical journey!
Your friend,
Naomi (Nay)
P.S. Just had to share this photo that my sister snapped of me last month during our adventure with our kids at Disney’s California Adventure. The Guardians of the Galaxy ride was too intense for me, and if you’ve been on that ride, you KNOW what I mean! I’m more of a swing person, and I was truly enjoying this moment!
