Compositions

Naomi LaViolette’s compositions have been performed worldwide in professional, amateur, sacred and scholastic settings. In 2018, her piece “Melancholy Flower,” co-composed with Steven Craig Goodwin, was included in Gothic Records release of the Shadows on the Stars album by Oregon Repertory Singers, winner of the American Prize. She studied Music Theory and Composition while pursuing her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Piano Performance, and her professional work as a choral accompanist and chamber musician since 2001 greatly influences her composing. She is a published composer with Santa Barbara Music Publishing, the composer and arranger for the Oregon Symphony Lullaby Project, and the accompanist for the Oregon Repertory Singers since 2004. Her music for choirs, chamber ensembles, soloists, and orchestras reflect an authentic connection to nature, spirituality and humanity. To inquire about commissioning a work, contact Naomi here.

Dr. Dean Jilek

“It doesn't matter if you are a listener or a performer of Naomi’s music; the beautifully and thoughtfully crafted stories and melodies will capture your heart and soul from the first note. We intend to keep her choral arrangements actively programmed on our seasons.”

Lauren Bryan
Oregon Repertory Singers Executive Director

“Naomi LaViolette’s Noel was a joy to program and perform. It was well-crafted and extremely satisfying for both the choir and the audience. I highly recommend this talented and versatile composer.”

Steven Zopfi
Director of Choral Activities, University of Puget Sound

When I first heard Naomi LaViolette’s original composition “Noel,” I knew I had to include it for Christmas liturgies. It’s a beautiful melody that can be as simple or complex as desired, depending on the size of your ensemble or choir. I had a small, professional ensemble that made it come to life. I highly recommend the solo instrument part for violin be included. It’s gorgeous!

Heather Lindamann
Director of Music at St. Thomas More Parish

The sign of a great Christmas carol is that it seems like has always existed. Naomi's "Noel" feels like it has been drawn from the recesses of the ages and from our oldest memories, yet is one of the freshest Christmas works I have heard in the past 20 years.

Erick Lichte
Director of Chor Leoni, Vancover B.C.
